WASHINGTON — This morning the president posted a film of the country he is trying to hand back: the Monument in winter, the car with both numbers on the plate, a salute in a marble hall, a vice president speaking into stone, horses on a southern fence, a table waiting, a staircase into the dark. It is not a music video. It is a reminder that the midterms are not a mood. They are a deed.
Look at the Invoice, Not the Costume
If you are young, you have been told the red column is a museum. Look at the invoice instead. Rent that ate the paycheck. Speech that needed a permission slip. A job that became a waiting list and a slogan. The Democratic Socialists of America do not hide the product. They want production, energy, medicine, and the public square under political command. That is not “care.” That is a committee between you and the light switch.
What a DSA House Actually Means
You do not have to love every Republican. You have to decide whether the next two years belong to people who still think America is a problem to be managed, or to people who still think it is a country to be kept. The DSA wing is not a campus club anymore. It writes the talking points, staffs the offices, and treats the flag as an embarrassment. If that slate wins the House, the emergency never ends. AI becomes a license. The border becomes a theory. Your labor becomes a plan.
A Tuesday, Not a Feeling
Older generations failed you when they treated elections like sport. Do not copy them. Register. Drag a friend. Vote as if the apartment, the shop, and the right to speak without a handler are on the line — because they are. A republic is not inherited by feelings. It is inherited by a Tuesday.
