Tulsi Gabbard Drops Bombshell Documents: Fauci Lied to Congress, But He’s Just the Fall Guy

In one of her final acts as Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard released a trove of declassified documents exposing Dr. Anthony Fauci’s central role in funding dangerous gain-of-function research and helping suppress the truth about COVID-19’s origins. The files reveal that Fauci directed millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars toward bat coronavirus experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology — work now widely viewed as the likely source of the lab leak that sparked the global pandemic.

The documents show Fauci actively influenced intelligence community assessments to downplay the lab-leak hypothesis while coordinating with politicized elements inside the IC to control the narrative. Most damningly, the records contradict Fauci’s 2024 congressional testimony. Under oath, he claimed he had no knowledge of or participation in discussions with the FBI, CIA, DIA, or other agencies about viral research before, during, or after the pandemic. Gabbard’s release makes clear that claim was false.

Gabbard stated: “After years of lies, censorship, and cover-ups, the American people deserve transparency, truth, and accountability.” The materials stem from a year-long declassification review supporting President Trump’s push for maximum transparency.

Yet Fauci is the typical fall guy in this saga. While he bears direct responsibility for the funding decisions and public deceptions that cost countless lives and destroyed public trust, the documents point to a deeper apparatus at work. Politicized career officials inside the intelligence community, elements within the prior administration’s national security apparatus, and the entrenched bureaucracy at NIH and NIAID appear to have enabled and protected a dangerous research agenda. The coordinated effort to suppress evidence of a lab origin was not the work of one man — it was institutional.

The real story is bigger than Fauci. It is about powerful interests that prioritized narrative control over truth, that funded high-risk experiments with American money in a Chinese lab with poor oversight, and that then used the tools of government to silence dissent. The American people were censored, gaslit, and subjected to policies rooted in those same lies.

True accountability cannot stop at Fauci. Congress, the Justice Department, and the new administration must follow the documents wherever they lead — into the intelligence agencies, the grant-making bureaucracy, and the decision-makers who chose cover-up over candor. The families who lost loved ones and the workers whose lives were shattered deserve nothing less than the full truth.
