Obamacare’s Corporate Bonanza: How the ACA Funneled Billions to Big Insurance and Medical Monopolies

Washington, D.C. – March 12, 2026 –

Fourteen years after its passage, the so-called Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as Obamacare, stands exposed as a massive giveaway to Big Insurance and the medical cartel, enriching corporate giants while saddling Americans with skyrocketing premiums and reduced choices. Far from delivering “affordable” care, this Democrat-engineered boondoggle has pumped hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars straight into the pockets of health insurers and hospitals, turning government mandates into a profit machine for the elite.

Under the ACA, federal subsidies—primarily flowing directly to insurers—ballooned from $18 billion in 2014 to an estimated $138 billion in 2025, fueling unprecedented windfalls. The Medicaid expansion alone handed insurers $126 billion in federal funds in 2023, with states setting lavish payment rates using taxpayer money. No wonder health insurer stocks have surged 1,032% since 2010, far outpacing the S&P 500, as companies like UnitedHealth Group saw revenues explode by 1,795% and profits by 1,857% from 2000 to 2024.

The medical cartel—dominated by consolidated hospitals and providers—reaped similar rewards. With mandates forcing millions into coverage, demand surged without price controls, allowing hospitals to jack up costs. The seven largest commercial insurers, controlling two-thirds of the market, amassed $34.1 billion in net profits in 2024 alone, steering care to their affiliated networks for even more gains. Rampant fraud in ACA marketplaces funneled billions more to these behemoths, wasting taxpayer dollars and denying claims to patients.

This isn’t free-market capitalism; it’s crony socialism at its worst. Obamacare crushed competition, bankrupted local exchanges, and left families with fewer options and higher bills—all to pad the bottom lines of mega-corporations. As premiums continue to rise, it’s clear: The ACA was never about care; it was about control and corporate enrichment. President Trump must dismantle this failed experiment to restore true affordability and freedom in healthcare. -WAA
